Our History

UKOMA was formed in the late 1970’s with the same aims as the group holds over 30 years later – airlines coming together to provide a mutual training solution to their operations staff. Founding member airlines included the likes of Monarch Airlines and Britannia Airways (now Thomson Airways).

Over 30 years later and UKOMA has proudly trained several thousand Operations staff across the UK. The UKOMA Operations Officer course was originally held at London Gatwick and was initially staged over a two week period. The course was shortened to one week and moved to Bournemouth and was hosted by European Air Charter. In 2013 the course moved from Bournemouth to the Harpenden House Hotel near Luton Airport. The Operations Officer Course has become widely recognised throughout the UK airline industry and has attracted interest from Europe and the Middle East.
