UKOMA Sets further Training Course dates

After an impressive uptake for the 2014 Train the Trainer, Operations Officer Course and Aviation Weather Course, UKOMA is pleased to announce course dates for 2015.

Due to high popularity of this year’s Operations Officer Course, the member operators have decided to run this course twice in 2015, during the months of March and November.   The Operations Officer course covers a introduction to the Operations Control environment and covers vital subjects such as Legislation, Flight Planning, Weight and Balance, Aircraft Performance, Aviation Weather, Security, Airport Slots, Disruption Management and Emergency Response.   The course sets our students up well for a future career in aviation.  More info on the Operations Officer course can be found here [Course Overview]

A new two day Eurocontrol course has been added covering an introduction to Network Management Operations (NM),  Integrated Flight Plan System (IFPS) and the systems our operators use (NOP/CHMI).  The course will be hosted by Eurocontrol in February 2015 at their Brussels Head Quarters and will include a tour of their facilities.

In addition UKOMA have also planned another Train the Trainer Course in 2015, again led by Plane Training and an additional Aviation Weather Course led by the Met Office.

The 2015 course timetable is below and UKOMA hope to add further courses in the near future.   For further details please email info@ukoma.co.uk.

Plane Training holds ‘Train the Trainer’ course

On the 8th and 9th of September, UKOMA held a two day “Train the Trainer” course for senior operations staff from Air Charter Scotland, Cello, Gama Aviation, Thomas Cook, Titan Airways, the Met Office and West Atlantic.

Aimed at furthering the skills of these key staff, the course was delivered by Sarah Skelton from Plane Training (www.planetraining.com) using the specialist training techniques developed by their organisation.

Sarah commented:

“the group were motivated and worked very well together. Their experience, job roles and companies are so different yet they all worked well together. I was absolutely delighted to deliver the course to UKOMA and thoroughly enjoyed the course myself”.

This was the first course to be held at the Hitchin Priory Hotel. About the venue, Course Director, Paul Drinkwater commented “the Hitchin Priory is an excellent venue – with an easy accessible location and great facilities conducive to training”.

The course, another example of our member companies working collaboratively to enhance the skills of our staff was so successful it has been agreed that it will be held again in 2015 for another group of students.

Members Meeting – TAG Farnborough

The August UKOMA Managers Meeting was held at TAG Farnborough Airport.  The meeting was attended by 25 Operations Managers from a wide cross section of UK based aircraft operators and associated companies.

The meeting was held at TAG Farnborough Airport, the stunning Business Airport located less than half an hour from Central London.  After the business meeting TAG Farnborough Airport showcased their facilities to the member operators.

The UKOMA business meeting was pleased to welcome six new members to the group – Aurigny Air Services, GAMA Aviation, 2Excel Aviation, Executive Jet Charter, Air Charter Scotland and Universal Aviation.

At the meeting a new constitution was proposed (view it here) and ratified by the membership.  Additionally discussions were held about the various training activities that UKOMA are arranging, including the forthcoming Train the Trainer and Aviation Weather courses.
